BA colleges in Vijayapura include Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College, SB Arts and KCP Science College and Basaveshwar Arts and Commerce College, mostly under Rani Channamma University, with women's colleges under Akkamahadevi Women's University. Portals count 5 to 15 colleges, and one college shows three different fees. Confirm each fee notice.
How Many BA Colleges Are There in Vijayapura?
Portals disagree by a factor of three. Careers360 lists 15 BA colleges for Vijayapura, of which 4 are government and 11 private. CollegeDekho lists 5, all private (page updated 25 September 2026), and Collegedunia's degree list for Bijapur counts 19 colleges across all streams. The city changed its official name from Bijapur to Vijayapura when Karnataka renamed twelve cities on 1 November 2014, and the portals still mix both spellings.
Careers360's list is the widest, so the table below reproduces it with its own type labels, split by the place named in each listing.
| Type listed | Named for Vijayapura or Bijapur | Named for another town |
|---|---|---|
| Government (4) | None | Government First Grade Colleges at Mamadapur, Managuli and Zulaki; Sri Channamallappa Channaveerappa Hebbal Government First Grade College, Golasangi |
| Private (11) | Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College; Basaveshwar Arts and Commerce College; BLDEA's Smt Bangaramma Sajjan Arts and Commerce College for Women; SB Arts and KCP Science College; SECAB ARSI; SECAB Association's ARS Inamdar Arts, Science and Commerce College for Women; Shri Sangameshwar Arts and Commerce College; SSVV Sangha's Shri GR Gandhi Arts and Shri YA Patil Commerce College; Karnataka Teachers B Ed College; Shree Jagajyoti Basaveshwar Vidyavardhak B Ed College | Shri Shantaveer Arts and Commerce College, Babaleshwar |
Two things jump out. None of the four government colleges is named for the city; each is named for another place. And the list is padded: two entries are B.Ed colleges, and the two SECAB rows carry near-identical names, so the number of separate BA colleges is lower than 15. Even the label "Bijapur" misleads. Careers360 gives the Basaveshwar college a 4.9 out of 5 rating from 72 reviews, but the college of that name appears to be BLDEA's Basaveshwar college, whose own website places it at Basavan Bagewadi, a town in the district.
Two universities sit behind these colleges. Wikipedia records that Rani Channamma University's jurisdiction covers Belagavi, Bijapur and Bagalkot districts, and Careers360 lists SB Arts and KCP Science College as one of its affiliated colleges. Women's colleges such as BLDEA's Smt Bangaramma Sajjan and SECAB ARS Inamdar appear under Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women's University, which Wikipedia describes as the first university exclusively for women in Karnataka, founded in August 2003 at Bijapur. Wikipedia says it has 70 affiliated women's colleges across twelve districts; Careers360 shows 37. For neighbours under the same university, compare BA colleges in Belagavi or browse the Vijayapura colleges directory.
Government vs Private BA Fees in Vijayapura
Anyone searching for BA course fees Vijayapura finds one problem above all: the portals price the same college three different ways. The table lists every figure we could source.
| College and programme | Type as listed | Fee listed (₹) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College, BA | Private | 2,686 per year | CollegeDekho, course page updated 2 May 2024 |
| Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College, BA Criminology | Arts (stream label) | 75,000 | Collegedunia degree list |
| Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College, BA | Public institution | 45,000 to 2,25,000 (3 years) | Collegedunia college page |
| Karnataka Teachers B Ed College (inside the BA list) | Private | 72,830 | Careers360 |
| SB Arts and KCP Science College, BA (600 seats) | Private | No BA fee stated | Careers360 |
| Four government first grade colleges | Government | No fee shown | Careers360 list |
Take the Anjuman rows first. ₹2,686 a year comes to ₹8,058 over three years, about a ninth of the ₹75,000 on the next portal, and a fraction of the top of Collegedunia's range. One of those numbers is wrong, possibly all three. Then look at the round figure: ₹75,000 also appears against B.Com at Pragathi First Grade College in the same Collegedunia list, so treat it as a placeholder until the college confirms it in writing.
The only fee Careers360 shows across its whole Vijayapura BA list belongs to a B.Ed college, not a BA. Government colleges, which should anchor any comparison, publish no BA fee on any page we found.
Where the sources contradict each other
| Item | What each source says |
|---|---|
| Number of BA colleges | 15 (Careers360) against 5 (CollegeDekho) |
| Anjuman's BA fee | ₹2,686 a year (CollegeDekho), ₹75,000 (Collegedunia list), ₹45,000 to 2,25,000 for three years (Collegedunia college page) |
| Anjuman's type | Public institution (Collegedunia college page); private (Careers360 and CollegeDekho) |
| Anjuman's BA subjects | Three, Hindi, English and Kannada (CollegeDekho); fifteen arts subjects on the college's own website |
| What counts as a BA college | Careers360's BA list includes two B.Ed colleges; CollegeDekho lists SECAB Group of Institutions and BLDEA's Group of Colleges as single entries |
| Women's university colleges | 70 affiliated colleges (Wikipedia) against 37 (Careers360) |
3 Things to Check Before Trusting a Fee Figure
1. Published or placeholder. Ask whether the number comes from the college's fee notice. A round ₹75,000 that also sits against a B.Com is not one.
2. Per year or three years. A fee of ₹2,686 and a fee of ₹2,25,000 can describe the same college. Ask which basis each figure uses.
3. Category label. The same college can be public on one portal and private on another. This is our reading of the sources, so treat the college's own current fee notice as final.
Government BA colleges Vijayapura applicants can shortlist first include the four first grade colleges in Careers360's list and the Government First Grade College at Indi, which our directory lists under Vijayapura district as an arts college established in 1976.
BA Combinations at Arts Colleges in Vijayapura
Arts colleges in Vijayapura publish combinations unevenly, so ask each college for its current list. The table shows what we found.
| College | Combinations or subjects listed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College | Arabic, Criminology and Forensic Science, Economics, Education, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Kannada, Persian, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, Sociology, Urdu | College website |
| SB Arts and KCP Science College | BA, BCA and BSc, with 600 BA seats; subjects not itemised | Careers360 |
| BLDEA's Basaveshwar Arts and Commerce College | BA and B.Com; subjects not itemised | College website |
| Government First Grade College, Indi | Arts college with 8 courses; subjects not itemised | CollegesInfo directory |
Anjuman publishes the widest subject menu we found in any of our Karnataka city guides: Arabic, Persian and Urdu sit beside Criminology and Forensic Science and Psychology. A student with one of those subjects in mind should start there. SB Arts and KCP holds a NAAC B++ grade with a CGPA of 2.99 out of 4, issued in November 2021 and valid until 21 November 2026, according to Careers360, so ask whether the college has renewed it.
Students drawn to design should compare fine arts colleges in Karnataka before settling on a general BA.
Placements: What the Data Shows
None of the listing pages we checked publishes BA placement figures for Vijayapura colleges. Ask each college for its batch-wise report: students registered, offers made and the median salary. Without one, a BA is best judged by where it leads next.
| Next step after BA | What it usually requires |
|---|---|
| School teacher | A B.Ed after the degree |
| Lawyer | Any bachelor's degree, then a three-year LLB |
| Manager | Any bachelor's degree, then an MBA entrance such as PGCET or KMAT |
| Civil services | Any bachelor's degree, then the UPSC or KPSC examination cycle |
| Clinical psychologist | RCI-recognised postgraduate qualification |
| Journalist | Internships and a portfolio; a mass communication PG helps |
The teaching route runs through B.Ed colleges for teaching, and Vijayapura has two B.Ed colleges in the very list that claims to show BA colleges.
BA Admission in Vijayapura for 2027
BA admission Vijayapura 2027 will most likely follow the affiliating university's process again. Rani Channamma University's official site carries admission guidelines and circulars for the 1st, 3rd and 5th semesters of undergraduate programmes for 2026-27, announced course registration for those semesters on 28 August 2026, and names UUCMS among its systems and portals. The 2027 dates are not out yet, so watch the university's official notices and the state's UUCMS student portal. Students from nearby districts can compare colleges in Bagalkot, a district Wikipedia lists within the same university's jurisdiction.
2 Admission Routes Compared
1. Rani Channamma University's process. This covers the co-educational colleges we checked, including Anjuman, SB Arts and KCP, Basaveshwar and the government college at Indi. Careers360 pages for RCU-affiliated BA courses in Belagavi list 10+2 or equivalent as the eligibility, so expect the same here and confirm on the college's notice.
2. Akkamahadevi Women's University colleges. BLDEA's Smt Bangaramma Sajjan and SECAB ARS Inamdar sit under the women's university, so an applicant to those colleges follows that university's notices, not Rani Channamma's. Check its official website before you apply, since the two processes can differ.
5 Documents Required for BA Admission in Vijayapura
- PUC or 12th marks card and passing certificate
- SSLC or 10th marks card
- Transfer certificate from the last institution
- Caste or income certificate, if you apply under a reserved category
- Aadhaar card and passport-size photographs
This is the typical list, and each college publishes its own. Students from other boards or states may need a migration certificate too.
Where Fee Support Comes From
Eligible SC, ST, OBC and minority students can apply for central post-matric scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal, and Karnataka runs a State Scholarship Portal for state schemes. Amounts and income limits change every year, so read the current notification.
How to Choose Between BA Colleges in Vijayapura
The best BA colleges in Vijayapura for you are the ones that fit your subject, your university route and your commute, not the ones with the fullest portal listing. Work through four questions in order.
Factor 1: City or taluk. A government seat means looking outside the city, at Mamadapur, Managuli, Zulaki, Golasangi or Indi. Price the commute or hostel before you compare fees.
Factor 2: Which university. Some women's colleges answer to Akkamahadevi Women's University and the co-educational colleges we checked to Rani Channamma University. The circulars, dates and portals may differ.
Factor 3: Total cost. Ask for the fee notice in writing and convert it to a three-year total, since one college shows three prices.
Factor 4: Subject and staff. For Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Criminology or Psychology, confirm the subject with Anjuman first. Ask for the second-year faculty list.
