BA colleges in Hassan include Government Arts, Commerce and Postgraduate College, Government First Grade College for Women and private colleges such as NDRK and Arakalagudu Varadarajulu Kanthamma College, per Careers360. Portals list 8 to 10 colleges, and ₹75,000 appears against six of them, including colleges labelled government. Confirm each college's fee notice.
How Many BA Colleges Are There in Hassan?
Careers360 lists 10 BA colleges in Hassan, of which 8 are government and 2 private. Collegedunia's arts list for Hassan shows 8, and its degree list counts 33 colleges across all streams. The two lists agree on almost nothing else. Careers360 calls NDRK First Grade College and Arakalagudu Varadarajulu Kanthamma College private; Collegedunia labels both government.
Careers360's list is the wider one, so the table below reproduces it with its own type labels, split by the place named in each listing.
| Type listed | Named for Hassan city | Named for another place |
|---|---|---|
| Government (8) | Government Arts, Commerce and Postgraduate College; Government First Grade College for Women | Government First Grade Colleges at Alur, Halli Mysore, Holenarsipur, Javagal and Mosale Hosahalli; Government Home Science College, Holenarsipur |
| Private (2) | Arakalagudu Varadarajulu Kanthamma College for Women; NDRK First Grade College | None |
Six of the ten sit outside the city by name, so a student in Hassan town has four real options on this list and a student in Holenarsipur or Alur has others. The bigger question is which university each college belongs to. Hassan University's official website says it was established in 2022 under the Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Act 2022, when the University of Mysore was bifurcated, and that it grew from the University of Mysore's postgraduate centre notified on 13 July 1992. Careers360 dates it to 2023 and lists 14 affiliated colleges, but only three of its ten BA colleges (NDRK, Kanthamma and Mosale Hosahalli) appear on that list. Careers360's own page for Government Arts, Commerce and Postgraduate College still names the University of Mysore as its affiliation.
Read together, the portals have not caught up with the split. For a wider set of options, start with best degree colleges in Hassan, browse the full Karnataka college directory, or compare the parent university's city in BA colleges in Mysore.
Government vs Private BA Fees in Hassan
Anyone searching for BA course fees Hassan will meet a fee table that makes no sense until you notice the pattern. Here is everything we could source.
| College and programme | Type as listed | Fee listed (₹) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| B.M. Shetty Government First Grade College, BA History | Government | 16,842 | Collegedunia arts list |
| Government First Grade College, Halebeedu, BA History | Government | 17,550 | Collegedunia arts list |
| Government First Grade College for Women, BA History | Government | 75,000 | Collegedunia arts list |
| YDD Government First Grade College, BA Economics | Government | 75,000 | Collegedunia arts list |
| Government College of Home Science, BA Human Development | Government | 75,000 | Collegedunia arts list |
| Arakalagudu Varadarajulu Kanthamma College for Women, BA Hindi | Labelled government (Careers360: private) | 75,000 | Collegedunia arts list |
| N.D.R.K. First Grade College, BA Political Science | Labelled government (Careers360: private) | 75,000 | Collegedunia arts list |
| Home Science College, BA Economics | Private | 75,000 | Collegedunia arts list |
| Government Arts, Commerce and Postgraduate College, BA | Government | No BA fee stated | Careers360 |
Six of eight rows show ₹75,000, and five of those six colleges are labelled government. The two government colleges at ₹16,842 and ₹17,550 charge less than a quarter of that. Government colleges listed at more than four times the fee of other government colleges, and at the same figure as a private one, should make you doubt the table. Collegedunia's degree list repeats the figure against B.Com at Government First Grade College for Women, so treat ₹75,000 as a placeholder until the college confirms it in writing.
Government Arts, Commerce and Postgraduate College holds a NAAC B++ grade with a CGPA of 2.92 out of 4, issued in November 2022 and valid until 27 November 2027, according to Careers360. That is a quality signal. It is not a fee.
Where the sources contradict each other
| Item | What each source says |
|---|---|
| Number of BA colleges | 10 (Careers360 BA list) against 8 (Collegedunia arts list) |
| NDRK and Kanthamma colleges | Private (Careers360); government (Collegedunia) |
| Government Arts College's status | Government (Careers360); government aided and autonomous (CollegeDekho) |
| Affiliation of that college | University of Mysore (Careers360 college page); absent from Careers360's own Hassan University list of 14 |
| Hassan University's founding | 2022 (university website); 2023 (Careers360) |
| Fees for the same type of college | ₹16,842 and ₹17,550 against ₹75,000 for other government colleges (Collegedunia) |
3 Things to Check Before Trusting a Fee Figure
1. Published or placeholder. Ask whether the number comes from the college's fee notice. A round ₹75,000 that also sits against a B.Com is not one.
2. Government or aided or private. The label decides the fee band, and the portals disagree on it for at least three colleges here. Ask the college which category its BA seats fall under.
3. Per year or three years. CollegeDekho shows the Hassan BA fee as "null / year", which tells you nothing, and Collegedunia does not state the basis for its figures. Ask which it is.
Government BA colleges Hassan applicants can shortlist first are Government Arts, Commerce and Postgraduate College and Government First Grade College for Women in the city, plus the first grade colleges at Alur, Javagal, Halli Mysore and Mosale Hosahalli if home is nearer to them.
BA Combinations at Arts Colleges in Hassan
Arts colleges in Hassan publish combinations unevenly, so ask each college for its current list. The table shows what we found.
| College | Combinations or subjects listed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Government First Grade College for Women | English, History, Kannada, Economics, Political Science, Sociology and Journalism | CollegeDekho |
| Government Arts, Commerce and Postgraduate College | Seven specializations, including History, Political Science and Sociology; not fully itemised | Careers360 and CollegeDekho |
| Arakalagudu Varadarajulu Kanthamma College for Women | Hindi | Collegedunia |
| NDRK First Grade College | Political Science | Collegedunia |
| Home Science colleges | Human Development (Government College of Home Science) and Economics (Home Science College) | Collegedunia |
BA Human Development is the unusual entry: in the listings we checked, it appears only at Government College of Home Science. Government First Grade College for Women is the only Hassan college in our sources that lists Journalism. Neither Careers360 nor Collegedunia itemises all seven subjects for Government Arts College, so ask the office for the current list.
Students drawn to design should compare fine arts colleges in Karnataka before settling on a general BA.
Placements: What the Data Shows
None of the listing pages we checked publishes BA placement figures for Hassan colleges. The only rating we saw was 5.0 out of 5 for Government First Grade College for Women, from two reviews on Careers360, which is too few to mean anything. Ask each college for its batch-wise report: students registered, offers made and the median salary.
| Next step after BA | What it usually requires |
|---|---|
| School teacher | A B.Ed after the degree |
| Lawyer | Any bachelor's degree, then a three-year LLB |
| Manager | Any bachelor's degree, then an MBA entrance such as PGCET or KMAT |
| Civil services | Any bachelor's degree, then the UPSC or KPSC examination cycle |
| Clinical psychologist | RCI-recognised postgraduate qualification |
| Journalist | Internships and a portfolio; a mass communication PG helps |
The teaching route runs through B.Ed colleges for teaching, and Careers360's Hassan University list shows two education colleges under the new university.
BA Admission in Hassan for 2027
BA admission Hassan 2027 depends on which university your college answers to. Hassan University's official website lists UUCMS under its online services, and its latest homepage notices when we checked were the 2026-27 PG admission notification and M.Com admissions, with no undergraduate notice on the homepage. Its admission page lists downloadable notifications for 2025-26 and 2026-27, but the files did not open for us. The 2027 dates are not out yet, so watch the university's official notices and the state's UUCMS student portal.
2 Admission Routes Compared
1. A college under Hassan University. Careers360 lists NDRK, Kanthamma and Mosale Hosahalli among the university's affiliated colleges, so students applying there follow Hassan University's notices. The university also published a 2026-27 affiliation fee structure dated 15 November 2025, which governs colleges, not students.
2. A college still shown under the University of Mysore. Careers360's page for Government Arts, Commerce and Postgraduate College names the University of Mysore, so ask the college which university's UUCMS notice applies before you apply.
The Hassan listing pages we opened did not state a BA eligibility. The usual requirement in Karnataka is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent, as Careers360 shows for Belagavi colleges, but confirm with the college.
5 Documents Required for BA Admission in Hassan
- PUC or 12th marks card and passing certificate
- SSLC or 10th marks card
- Transfer certificate from the last institution
- Caste or income certificate, if you apply under a reserved category
- Aadhaar card and passport-size photographs
This is the typical list, and each college publishes its own. Students from other boards or states may need a migration certificate too.
Where Fee Support Comes From
Eligible SC, ST, OBC and minority students can apply for central post-matric scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal, and Karnataka runs a State Scholarship Portal for state schemes. Amounts and income limits change every year, so read the current notification.
How to Choose Between BA Colleges in Hassan
The best BA colleges in Hassan for you are the ones that fit your subject, your university route and your commute, not the ones with the fullest portal listing. Work through four questions in order.
Factor 1: City or taluk. Six of Careers360's ten colleges are named for other places. Hostel or bus costs come on top of the fee.
Factor 2: Which university. Ask the college whether it now answers to Hassan University or still to the University of Mysore. The notices and dates may differ.
Factor 3: Total cost. Ask for the fee notice in writing and convert it to a three-year total. A government college quoting ₹75,000 deserves a question.
Factor 4: Subject and staff. For Journalism, Sociology or Human Development, confirm the subject with the college first. Ask which faculty teach that subject.
