BA colleges in Belagavi include Lingaraj College, Rani Parvati Devi College and the Sangolli Rayanna government constituent college, all under Rani Channamma University. Portals count 4 to 20 colleges, and the same ₹75,000 fee repeats across six of them. Confirm every college's own fee notice before you rely on a listing.
How Many BA Colleges Are There in Belagavi?
Ask four portals and you get four answers. Careers360 lists 20 BA colleges for Belgaum, of which 9 are government and 11 private. CollegeDekho lists 10 (page updated 27 September 2026), Collegedunia's Belgaum page shows 6, and its separate Belagavi page shows only 4. The gap is not a rounding error. Each portal appears to draw the boundary of "Belagavi" differently, and the pages we read do not say where.
Careers360's list is the widest, so the table below reproduces it with its own type labels. We have split it by the place named in each college's listing.
| Type listed | Named for Belagavi or Belgaum city | Named for another town |
|---|---|---|
| Government (9) | Sangolli Rayanna First Grade Constituent College; Smt Somavva C Angadi Government First Grade College | Government First Grade Colleges at Ainapur, Bailhongal, Bylahongala (women's), Kittur, Kokatanur, Nesargi and Raibag |
| Private (11) | Lingaraj College; Rani Parvati Devi College of Arts and Commerce; Maratha Mandal's Arts Commerce Science and Home Science College; Anjuman Arts and Commerce College; Bharatesh College of Arts, Commerce and Science; Bhaurao Kakatkar College | Lokapur College and KLE Shivayogi Murughendra Swamiji College at Athani; KLE Basavaprabhu Kore College at Chikodi; Shivanand Arts and Commerce College at Kagwad; SVE Society's BR Darur First Grade College at Harugeri |
Count the columns. Only 8 of the 20 sit in Belagavi city by name; 12 are taluk-town colleges elsewhere in the district. So the higher count answers "BA colleges in Belagavi district", and the lower counts are nearer to "BA colleges in Belagavi city". Neither portal says which question it is answering. A student who lives in Raibag or Athani may find the 20 more useful than the 6.
Rani Channamma University sits behind almost all of them. Wikipedia records that it was created in 2010 by upgrading the postgraduate centre that Karnatak University started in Belgaum in 1982, and Careers360 shows 162 colleges under the university across all streams. City-wise directories start at our Belagavi colleges directory, and Karnataka-wide comparisons sit in the guide to BA colleges across Karnataka.
Government vs Private BA Fees in Belagavi
Anyone hunting for BA course fees Belagavi will find a thin, uneven set of figures. Government colleges, which should anchor the comparison, publish almost nothing on the portals. The table lists every number we could source.
| College and programme | Type as listed | Fee listed (₹) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rani Channamma University, BA (listed as a college) | University | 11,400 | Collegedunia, Belagavi page |
| Maratha Mandal's Arts and Commerce College, BA | Government | 11,724 | Collegedunia, Belgaum page |
| SS Arts College and TP Science Institute, BA Hindi | Private | 24,000 | Collegedunia, Belgaum page |
| Lingaraj College, BA (range across subjects) | Private, autonomous | 75,000 to 2,25,000 (3 years) | Collegedunia; type per Careers360 |
| Lingaraj College, BA Psychology | Private, autonomous | 2,25,000 | Collegedunia, Belagavi page |
| Rani Parvati Devi College, BA Sociology | Private | 75,000 | Collegedunia, Belagavi page |
| Sangolli Rayanna First Grade Constituent College, BA | Government | No BA fee stated | Careers360 |
Now look at what repeats. A fee of ₹75,000 appears against BA Political Science at SVS Bellubbi and at Anjuman, against BA at Beynon Smith Methodist Degree College and at Shivanand Arts, against BA Sociology at Rani Parvati Devi and against BA Music at K.N.V.V. Sangha's college in Kittur. Six colleges, one figure. That pattern looks like a default entry, not six fee schedules, so treat ₹75,000 as a placeholder until the college confirms it in writing.
Where the sources contradict each other
| Item | What each source says |
|---|---|
| Number of BA colleges | 20 (Careers360), 10 (CollegeDekho), 6 and 4 (two Collegedunia pages) |
| Maratha Mandal's college | A college of that name is labelled Government at ₹11,724 on Collegedunia; Careers360 lists a similarly named Maratha Mandal's college as private |
| What counts as a college | Collegedunia's Belagavi list includes Rani Channamma University itself; CollegeDekho's BA list includes Karnataka Law Society's Raja Lakhamgouda Law College |
| Duplicate entries | CollegeDekho shows K.N.V.V. Sangha's Arts and Commerce College and KNVVS Arts & Commerce College as two separate rows |
| University name | The university's official site is headed Kitturu Rani Channamma University, Belagavi; Wikipedia and the portals still use Rani Channamma University or RCUB |
3 Things to Check Before Trusting a Fee Figure
1. Published or placeholder. Ask whether the number comes from the college's fee notice. A round ₹75,000 that also sits against six unrelated colleges is not one.
2. Full course or one year. The portals rarely say. Lingaraj's range is labelled a three-year total, but the ₹11,400, ₹11,724 and ₹24,000 entries carry no such label in what we could read. Ask which it is.
3. Type label. The same college can be government on one portal and private on another. This is our reading of the sources, so treat the college's own current fee notice as final.
Government BA colleges Belagavi applicants can shortlist first include Sangolli Rayanna First Grade Constituent College and Smt Somavva C Angadi Government First Grade College in the city, plus the taluk-town government colleges if home is nearer to Raibag, Bailhongal or Kittur.
BA Combinations at Arts Colleges in Belagavi
Arts colleges in Belagavi publish combinations unevenly, so ask each college for its current list. The table shows what we found.
| College | Combinations or subjects listed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Rani Parvati Devi College | Economics, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Philosophy, Kannada, Marathi, Political Science and Social Science | Collegedunia |
| Lingaraj College | Psychology and 9 more, not itemised | Collegedunia |
| SVS Bellubbi and Anjuman | Political Science | Collegedunia |
| SS Arts College and TP Science Institute | Hindi | Collegedunia |
| K.N.V.V. Sangha's college, Kittur | Music | Collegedunia |
Two things in that table are worth reading twice. Rani Parvati Devi's page lists ten streams and names Social Science but not Sociology, yet Collegedunia's Belagavi list shows a BA Sociology fee at the same college, so confirm the subject exists before you plan around it. And Marathi appears next to Kannada and Hindi, a language mix that matters in a border city.
Students drawn to design should compare fine arts colleges in Karnataka before settling on a general BA.
Placements: What the Data Shows
None of the listing pages we checked publishes BA placement figures for Belagavi colleges. Ask each college for its batch-wise report: students registered, offers made and the median salary. Without one, a BA is best judged by where it leads next.
| Next step after BA | What it usually requires |
|---|---|
| School teacher | A B.Ed after the degree |
| Lawyer | Any bachelor's degree, then a three-year LLB |
| Manager | Any bachelor's degree, then an MBA entrance such as PGCET or KMAT |
| Civil services | Any bachelor's degree, then the UPSC or KPSC examination cycle |
| Clinical psychologist | RCI-recognised postgraduate qualification |
| Journalist | Internships and a portfolio; a mass communication PG helps |
The teaching route runs through B.Ed colleges for teaching, which matters most where the government colleges lead on cost.
BA Admission in Belagavi for 2027
BA admission Belagavi 2027 will most likely follow the university's process again. The official site of Kitturu Rani Channamma University carries admission guidelines and circulars for the 1st, 3rd and 5th semesters of undergraduate programmes for 2026-27, announced course registration for those semesters on 28 August 2026, and names UUCMS among its systems and portals. The 2027 dates are not out yet, so watch the university's official notices and the state's UUCMS student portal. Students still choosing a pre-university college can compare PU colleges in Belagavi first.
2 Admission Routes Compared
1. The university's UUCMS process. This covers the affiliated and constituent colleges. Careers360 lists 10+2 or equivalent as the eligibility for BA at Bharatesh College and at Rani Parvati Devi College, and no entrance test is mentioned on the pages we checked.
2. A direct application to an autonomous or private college. Careers360 describes Lingaraj College as an autonomous college of the university, and Collegedunia shows an application window of 21 April to 15 June 2026 on its page. Ask whether its BA seats follow the same allotment as the affiliated colleges.
5 Documents Required for BA Admission in Belagavi
- PUC or 12th marks card and passing certificate
- SSLC or 10th marks card
- Transfer certificate from the last institution
- Caste or income certificate, if you apply under a reserved category
- Aadhaar card and passport-size photographs
This is the typical list, and each college publishes its own. Students from other boards or states may need a migration certificate too.
Where Fee Support Comes From
Eligible SC, ST, OBC and minority students can apply for central post-matric scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal, and Karnataka runs a State Scholarship Portal for state schemes. Amounts and income limits change every year, so read the current notification.
How to Choose Between BA Colleges in Belagavi
The best BA colleges in Belagavi for you are the ones that fit your next step and your commute, not the ones with the fullest portal listing. Work through four questions in order.
Factor 1: City or taluk. Decide first whether you will live in Belagavi or commute from a taluk town. Twelve of Careers360's 20 colleges are named for towns outside the city, and a hostel or bus pass can change the real cost more than the fee.
Factor 2: What comes after the BA? For a state exam, an MA or law, the government colleges leave room for coaching money. For Psychology or Music, confirm the college offers it before you apply.
Factor 3: Total cost. Ask for the fee notice in writing and convert it to a three-year total, since the portals here disagree.
Factor 4: Combination and staff. Ask for the exact combination and the second-year faculty list.
Weighing other cities? Compare BA fees in Dharwad, BA colleges in Mangalore, BA colleges in Mysore or government and private BA fees in Bangalore. Still deciding on a stream? Read courses after 12th commerce, or ask about admission assistance for Karnataka colleges.
