About Vijayanagar College
Inaugurated by the then Vice-President of India, Dr Zakir Hussain, in 1964, Vijayanagar College has grown into the largest degree college in the Hosapete-Ballari industrial belt. Current enrolment stands above 4,000 students — a scale that few aided colleges in the region match.
Founded by the Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha (established 1916), the college offers BA, BSc, BCom and BBA programmes affiliated to Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University. NAAC A accreditation with a CGPA of 3.04 reflects consistent academic standards. UGC recognition under 2(f) and 12(B) has been in place since the college's early decades.
Hosapete's proximity to the Hampi UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Jindal steel belt creates a unique catchment — students drawn by both heritage-sector opportunities and industrial employment. Separate hostels for men and women operate on campus.
