About Govt First Grade College Parasurampura
Government First Grade College Parasurampura sits on a 10-acre campus that is among the largest for any GFGC in Chitradurga district. Established in 1996, the college serves a compact student body of around 162 — a number that reflects the rural and sparsely populated character of this hobli-level settlement rather than any institutional shortcoming. NAAC has accredited it at B+ with a 2.64 CGPA, a grade that many urban colleges with ten times the enrolment have not achieved.
Three undergraduate programmes — BA, BBA, and BCom — run under Davangere University affiliation. The college's programme set is lean but aligned to what the local student population demands: arts and commerce degrees that open pathways to competitive exams, B.Ed entry, and banking recruitment. The spacious campus provides room for sports grounds and an expansion that the current enrolment has not yet required.
Parasurampura lies in the interior of Chitradurga taluk, amid rocky, semi-arid terrain typical of the Bayaluseeme region. Students here would otherwise need to travel to Chitradurga town or Challakere for a degree. The GFGC's presence means that at least a basic undergraduate education is available within daily commuting distance for villages in this dry-farming belt.
