About Govt First Grade College Kuvempu Nagara
Government First Grade College Kuvempu Nagara occupies a single-acre campus in Mysuru's western residential sprawl. Established in 1996, the college was designed to absorb demand from the city's growing housing layouts — areas where students needed a government-fee option closer to home than the older GFGCs near the city centre. In the three decades since, it has grown into one of the highest-enrolment GFGCs in Mysuru, with over 1,890 students on its rolls.
The institution holds NAAC B+ accreditation at a 2.73 CGPA, placing it above several larger government colleges in the district. Affiliated to the University of Mysore, it offers BA, BSc, BCom, and a BCA programme with 60 sanctioned seats. Between 25 and 29 faculty members handle instruction, and the library stocks roughly 26,000 books. BCA — a relatively recent addition — has proven popular, drawing students who want a computing-oriented degree at government-subsidised fees.
Kuvempu Nagara's location on the Mysuru-Nanjangud corridor means the college also pulls students from Nanjangud taluk and semi-rural pockets along the southern city fringe. Its graduates enter Mysuru's job market across banking, IT support, and government recruitment channels. The college's NAAC B+ score and high student density reflect a decade of steady investment in infrastructure relative to its compact campus footprint.
