About Lal Bahadur College
Spread across more than 50 acres in Sagar town, Lal Bahadur College functions as the primary higher-education hub for Shivamogga district's western taluks. The college earned autonomous status — a marker of curricular independence — and is affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta.
BA, BSc and BCom programmes cover the conventional streams, supplemented by BBA, BCA and vocational diplomas introduced under autonomous flexibility. Postgraduate courses in select subjects feed into the university's research framework. A well-stocked central library and science laboratories support the academic cycle. UGC recognition under 2(f) and 12(B) underpins the institution's eligibility for grants and research funding.
Founded in 1964, the campus has evolved into a self-contained educational township with separate hostels for men and women, sports grounds and a large auditorium. Students arrive from across the Malnad region — Sagar, Hosanagar, Soraba and Tirthahalli taluks.
