Written by L K Monu Borkala, Founder & Chief Strategist · Last updated 2 October 2026
CLAT 2027 is the Consortium of National Law Universities' UG entrance, held offline on 6 December 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Applications are open until 31 October 2026 and the fee is ₹4,000, or ₹3,500 for SC, ST, BPL and PwD candidates. It has 120 questions with 0.25 negative marking.
Karnataka has a specific stake in this exam. NLSIU Bengaluru reserves 75 seats, 25% of its intake, horizontally for Karnataka students in the BA LLB (Hons) programme and allots ten more to Karnataka students by merit list rank, according to its 2027-28 brochure. That makes CLAT worth a serious look for local students, whatever their plans for BA LLB, BBA LLB or the three-year LLB.
