Mount Carmel College Hotel Management Bangalore

Mount Carmel College, officially Mount Carmel (Deemed to be University) since June 2026, is a historic educational institution on Palace Road, Vasanth Nagar, Bengaluru. Established in 1948 by the Carmelite Sisters of Saint Teresa (CSST), the college has been a landmark in Indian higher education for over 75 years. It holds NAAC A+ accreditation (Cycle 5, CGPA 3.37/4.0, December 2024) and is recognised by UGC.

The institution offers 76 courses across 12 degree categories: BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA, B.Voc (including Hospitality and Tourism), MA, MSc, MCom, MBA, MCA, and PhD. The B.Voc in Hospitality and Tourism, with annual fees around Rs 1,70,000, combines vocational skill-building with academic rigour, covering hotel operations, event management, travel planning, and culinary arts through practical training modules.

Originally an all-women's college, Mount Carmel opened undergraduate programmes to co-educational admission in 2024. Current enrolment is approximately 91% female and 9% male. The 19-acre campus includes well-equipped laboratories, a central library, auditorium, sports facilities, hostels, and a chapel. The institution has earned UGC recognition as a College with Potential for Excellence and a DBT Star College designation for its science departments.

Mount Carmel ranked in the NIRF 2025 band of 151-200 in the college category. Notable alumni include former Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and historian Uma Chakravarti. The transition to deemed university status in 2026 enables the institution to design its own curricula, award degrees independently, and expand research programmes across disciplines.
