About College of Agriculture Vijayapur (UAS Dharwad)
College of Agriculture Vijayapura is under the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) Dharwad, one of Karnataka's premier agricultural universities. The college serves the Vijayapura district of North Karnataka — one of the state's most important dryland farming regions producing tur dal, cotton, sunflower, chickpea, sorghum, and pomegranate.
Vijayapura is Karnataka's largest producer of pomegranate and one of the major tur dal producing districts. The college's curriculum and research focus is aligned with these regional crops, giving students direct exposure to commercial farming systems that are economically significant at the state level. Students participate in field experiments on the college's experimental farm and in extension activities across Vijayapura and Bagalkot taluks through the KVK programme.
The college participates in ICAR All India Coordinated Research Projects on pulse crops, oilseeds, and dryland farming systems managed by UAS Dharwad. Research outputs from the UAS Dharwad system have consistently released improved varieties of tur, soybean, and cotton that are cultivated across North Karnataka. KCET is required for BSc Agriculture admission. Graduates from this college find strong government employment in the Karnataka Agriculture Department for the Vijayapura, Bagalkot, and Bijapur divisions. Private sector roles include agri-input companies, seed companies, and agricultural commodity trading firms operating in North Karnataka. Hostel available on campus for outstation students.
