About College of Agriculture Mandya (UAS Bangalore)
College of Agriculture Mandya is under the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) Bangalore, one of Karnataka's oldest government agricultural institutions. The college is located in Mandya, the heart of Karnataka's sugarcane belt, and focuses on paddy, sugarcane, ragi, and sunflower cultivation systems relevant to the Mandya and Mysuru districts.
Mandya district has the highest sugarcane production per hectare in Karnataka, supported by the KRS dam irrigation system. Students at the college get direct field exposure to sugarcane cultivation, ratoon management, and sugar factory operations through tie-ups with the cooperative and private sugar factories in the Mandya-Mysuru corridor. The college has experimental plots covering all major district crops and participates in ICAR-coordinated research projects on crop improvement and water management.
The college is closely associated with V.C. Farm Mandya campus, one of Karnataka's oldest and largest agricultural research farms spread over 2,200 acres. This proximity gives students exceptional practical training opportunities across multiple crop systems. KCET is required for BSc Agriculture admission. Graduates find strong employment in the Karnataka Agriculture Department, KMF (dairy cooperative), sugar cooperatives, and agri-input companies serving the Mysuru-Mandya-Chamarajanagar zone. Hostel available for students.
