About Srishti Manipal Institute of Art Design and Technology
Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology (SMI), established in 1996 and now a constituent of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, is consistently ranked among India's top design and arts institutions. Located at Yelahanka, north Bengaluru, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Communication Design, Industrial Design, Photography, Interaction Design, Digital Arts and New Media, Humanities and Sciences, and interdisciplinary programmes combining design with technology and social science. NAAC A accreditation at the institutional level reflects overall quality. What distinguishes Srishti from conventional design colleges is its pedagogical philosophy — studio-based learning structured around real-world design problems, cross-disciplinary collaboration between design, technology, and humanities students, and an explicit rejection of rote skill-transmission in favour of design thinking and conceptual rigour. Visiting faculty from India's advertising, product design, UX, and new media industries regularly participate in studio reviews and workshops. Adobe, Hotstar, Swiggy, Myntra, Ogilvy India, Leo Burnett, and several Bengaluru design studios and startups recruit from Srishti. UX/UI design roles, brand identity and communication design positions, product design, animation, and new media production are the primary graduate career pathways. Hostel facilities are available for both male and female students on the Yelahanka campus. Admission is through design aptitude evaluation including portfolio assessment and studio exercises — not standardised test scores. For design aspirants who want India's most progressive studio-based design education in Bengaluru with MAHE institutional backing and genuine industry placement outcomes, Srishti is the reference institution.
