About Sharada Ayurveda Medical College Mangalore
Sharada Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital (SAMCH) was established in 2016 under the Sharada Group of Institutions, located at Sharada Ayurdhama Campus, Devinagar, Talapady, Mangaluru — 575 023, Karnataka. The college is affiliated to RGUHS Bangalore and approved by CCIM (Central Council of Indian Medicine) and the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
SAMCH offers BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) — a 5.5-year programme with 60 approved seats per year. The course covers traditional Ayurvedic systems with relevant contemporary science, including a compulsory one-year clinical internship. Annual BAMS fee is approximately ₹3,40,875.
Admission is through NEET UG scores. KEA distributes 25% of seats under state quota through AYUSH centralised counselling; 15% are under All India quota (AACCC); remaining seats are management quota filled directly by the college.
The 100-bed multispecialty Ayurvedic teaching hospital on campus has departments including Panchakarma therapy units, Kaumarbhritya, Shalya Tantra, a modular operation theatre, physiotherapy unit, pathyahara (therapeutic diet) unit, and a college pharmacy dispensing authentic Ayurvedic preparations. The campus features gallery classrooms, multimedia library, laboratories, a herbal garden with medicinal plants, hostel for boys and girls, sports ground, and a swimming pool.
The college is the only dedicated Ayurveda institution in Talapady-Mangalore, making it accessible for students from coastal Karnataka and North Kerala. BAMS graduates here can register with the Karnataka Ayurvedic Practitioners Board to practise independently or work in clinical, research, pharmaceutical, and wellness sectors.
