About NMKRV College for Women
NMKRV College for Women, located in Jayanagar 3rd Block, Bengaluru, was established in 1973 and operates as an autonomous institution affiliated to Bangalore University. Managed by the Vivekananda Educational Society, the college is named after N.M.K.R. Venkataramana, a philanthropist who supported educational access for women in Karnataka. NMKRV holds NAAC accreditation with an A grade.
The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Arts, Commerce, Science, and Management. Key programmes include BCom, BBA, BCA, BA, BSc (with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, and Electronics combinations), and MCom. As an autonomous institution, NMKRV designs its own syllabi within the broad framework of Bangalore University regulations, sets its own examination papers, and awards degrees through the university, a status that allows more frequent curriculum updates than non-autonomous affiliated colleges can manage.
NMKRV enrols over 2,500 students annually across all programmes. The Jayanagar campus includes a library with approximately 50,000 volumes, computer laboratories, science labs, a seminar hall, and indoor sports facilities. The college is situated near Jayanagar 4th Block commercial area and accessible via the Jayanagar metro station on the Green Line, making it one of the more conveniently located women's colleges in south Bengaluru.
The institution runs active placement and training cells that organise campus recruitment drives, soft skills workshops, and career counselling sessions. NCC, NSS, and various cultural clubs provide extracurricular engagement throughout the academic year. Admissions are merit-based, processed through online applications following II PUC results, with management quota seats also available. The college maintains a strong alumnae network spanning professionals in banking, education, IT, and public administration across Karnataka.
