About National Institute of Fashion Technology Bengaluru
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bengaluru, established in 2006, is one of 19 NIFT campuses across India, operating under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It offers B.Des programmes in Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Fashion Communication, and Textile Design; M.Des in Fashion Design and Textile Design; and a Master of Fashion Management (MFM) programme. Total undergraduate intake across all B.Des programmes is approximately 120 seats. NIFT degrees are among the most recognised credentials in India's fashion industry — consistently respected by fashion brands, retail companies, and export houses across the country and internationally. Admission is through the NIFT national entrance test, which includes a written paper, creative ability test (CAT), group discussion, and situation test — a multi-stage assessment that evaluates design aptitude, colour and form sensitivity, and situational problem-solving. Bengaluru's industrial and commercial context makes this campus particularly relevant: the city hosts Myntra, Flipkart Fashion, Decathlon India's headquarters, Arvind Mills offices, several garment export companies, and a growing number of direct-to-consumer fashion tech startups. Campus recruiters include major retail brands, fashion export houses, textile manufacturers, and fashion media companies. Hostel facilities are available for both male and female students on the Domlur campus. NIFT Bengaluru graduates have the dual advantage of a central government institution credential and placement access to one of India's most active fashion industry clusters. For fashion and textile design aspirants who clear the NIFT entrance test, this campus offers the strongest local combination of government institutional credibility and industry placement proximity.
