About MLA First Grade College
MLA First Grade College for Women, located in Malleswaram in north-central Bengaluru, was established in 1985 and operates under affiliation to Bangalore University. Managed by the MLA Educational Trust, the college provides undergraduate education exclusively for women students across Commerce, Management, and Computer Applications streams.
BCom is the largest programme by enrolment, offered in regular and specialised variants including BCom with Computer Applications and BCom with Taxation. BBA and BCA programmes round out the academic offerings, with BCA drawing students seeking computing credentials for entry-level IT and support roles. The college follows Bangalore University's choice-based credit system and semester examination pattern, with internal assessments contributing to final grades alongside university-conducted end-semester examinations.
The Malleswaram campus sits in one of Bengaluru's heritage residential neighbourhoods with established public transport connectivity. Yeshwanthpur railway station is approximately 2 kilometres away, and multiple BMTC bus routes connect the area to all parts of the city. Campus facilities include classrooms, a computer centre, a library, and a small auditorium for events and guest lectures. Annual cultural programmes and inter-collegiate competitions provide students with co-curricular development opportunities.
The college holds NAAC accreditation with an A grade, reflecting satisfactory standards in teaching quality, infrastructure, and student support services. The placement cell facilitates campus interviews and career guidance, connecting final-year students with employers in banking, financial services, IT support, and retail sectors. Admissions are processed annually following II PUC results, with eligibility requiring a pass in any stream from a recognised board. The institution's focus on women's education at affordable fee levels serves families in north and central Bengaluru seeking quality undergraduate programmes.
