About JSS College of Nursing
JSS College of Nursing, established in 1990, is part of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research in Mysuru — a deemed university holding NAAC A++ institutional accreditation. The college offers B.Sc Nursing (4 years), Post Basic B.Sc Nursing (2 years), and M.Sc Nursing in Medical-Surgical, Psychiatric, Paediatric, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Community Health Nursing specialisations. Clinical training is conducted at JSS Hospital, Mysuru — a 750+ bed multi-speciality teaching hospital with active departments in cardiology, cardiac surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, neonatology, nephrology, and neurosciences. JSS Hospital sees a high patient load given its position as the primary private tertiary care referral centre for Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, and Kodagu districts — this volume of cases provides nursing students with clinical exposure across medical conditions and surgical procedures that less-busy attached hospitals cannot match. M.Sc Nursing specialisations are available with well-qualified teaching faculty, making JSS a credible option for nurses who want to progress to teaching or senior clinical roles. Gulf placement is a notable outcome for JSS nursing graduates — a significant proportion of alumni work in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, and Qatar, typically in hospitals that have recruitment relationships with JSS. UK NHS placements have also been reported by alumni who completed IELTS and OSCE preparation after graduation. Mysuru's lower cost of living compared to Bengaluru and the JSS campus's self-contained infrastructure — hostel, hospital, and college within walking distance — makes the overall student experience more manageable than a dispersed urban nursing college. Admission is through JSS Academy's own merit-based process. For nursing students targeting overseas careers, JSS Mysuru is among Karnataka's stronger options.
