Hirasugar Institute of Technology (HIT), Nidasoshi, is a private engineering college in Belagavi district established in 1996 under the Shri Jagadguru Pancham Nijalingeshwar (SJPN) Trust — a charitable institution founded in 1984 by Shri Math, Nidasoshi. AICTE approved, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), and accredited by NAAC (A grade) with NBA accreditation for CSE and ECE — SJPN Trust's HIT is located in Nidasoshi village, Hukkeri Taluk, Belagavi district, spread across a 48+ acre campus. The college's founding mission is to provide quality engineering education to rural youth of North Karnataka — a mission it has sustained for nearly three decades. With one of the most affordable fee structures for an NAAC-accredited engineering college in Karnataka, HIT Nidasoshi is a strong option for students from Belagavi district and surrounding areas of North Karnataka who want a campus-based engineering education at regulated low cost.

B.E. admission at HIT follows KCET counselling for Karnataka domicile students and COMEDK UGET for non-Karnataka applicants. JEE Main scores are also accepted. Lateral entry for diploma holders is available. The Training and Placement Cell runs from the last week of July through March each year, coordinating campus drives and pre-placement talks with visiting companies.
Eligibility: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, minimum 45% aggregate (40% SC/ST/OBC). Students from other state boards must obtain a VTU eligibility certificate before admission.

Placements
Placement 2024: 189 total offers with highest package Rs 4.32 LPA and median Rs 3.44 LPA. Top recruiters: TCS, Cognizant, Capgemini, Infosys, Mindtree, Wipro, Spiders, Kodnest, and Technologics. The placement season runs from late July through March. HIT's placement outcomes reflect its rural North Karnataka location — salaries are lower than Bangalore colleges, but the near-zero tuition cost makes the ROI calculation very different from city-based colleges. Many graduates also pursue M.Tech or government service examinations.
Location and Infrastructure
HIT Nidasoshi is located in a village setting on a 48+ acre campus — a self-contained residential engineering college surrounded by the agricultural landscape of Belagavi district. The nearest bus stop is Kamatnur (3.1 km); nearest railway station is Bagewadi (33.2 km); Belagavi Airport is 62.3 km away. The campus includes well-equipped laboratories with 304 Mbps dedicated internet, sports facilities, hostel accommodation for both boys and girls, a library, and a canteen. The spiritual atmosphere of the SJPN Trust's Shri Math is integrated into campus life — students are educated with a focus on self-service, cooperative learning and leadership alongside academics.
Key Considerations
HIT Nidasoshi's defining advantage is its combination of NAAC A + NBA accreditation with extremely low fees — Rs 2.25L total for CSE over 4 years is a fraction of what Bangalore private colleges charge. For students from Belagavi, Dharwad, Vijapura, or Gadag districts who want to study close to home at minimal cost, HIT Nidasoshi is one of the most financially accessible accredited engineering options in North Karnataka. The tradeoff is a rural campus location, modest placement packages, and limited access to the Bangalore or Pune IT job markets directly from campus. Students who supplement their degree with Kodnest or similar Belagavi-based training programmes tend to achieve better placement outcomes.
