About Govt Ayurveda Medical College Mysuru
Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru is located at Visvesvaraya Circle (New Sayyaji Rao Road), Devaraja Mohalla, Mysuru, Karnataka. Established in 1908 under the Government of Karnataka, it is the oldest Ayurveda institution in the state — now over 116 years old. The college is affiliated to RGUHS Bangalore and recognised by NCISM and CCIM, New Delhi. The official website is gamcmysore.karnataka.gov.in.
The college offers BAMS (100 seats) and MD Ayurveda at the postgraduate level with 22 seats across six specialisations: Ayurveda Siddhanta, Ayurveda Kayachikitsa, and four others. In 2018, two new PG departments were added — Panchakarma and Swasthavritta — expanding its postgraduate capacity. Total approved intake across all courses is 122.
Admission to BAMS is through NEET UG scores. 15% of seats go through AACCC (All India Quota); 85% through KEA AYUSH centralised counselling for Karnataka domicile students. Being a government college, BAMS fees are subsidised — approximately ₹25,000–₹45,000 per year for government quota seats. This makes it the most affordable BAMS option in Mysuru. PG admissions use AIAPGET scores.
As Karnataka's oldest Ayurveda college, GAMC Mysuru has a deep-rooted clinical tradition with a high-volume OPD drawing patients from across Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagara and neighbouring districts. Theory and practical classes for all four BAMS years are conducted offline on campus. The college has a library, well-equipped labs, and hostel facilities.
