Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) School of Design offers B.Des programmes in Communication Design, Product Design, and Fashion Design under Dayananda Sagar University, established in 2014. DSU is a state private university recognised by UGC and approved by AICTE, accredited with NAAC A grade. The university campus is designed by Padma Bhushan architect Hafeez Contractor and spans 130 acres in South Bangalore on Kanakapura Road. The B.Des programme at DSU is a 4-year course. Total fees for B.Des is approximately Rs. 12.08 lakhs for the complete duration, with Rs. 3.02 lakhs payable in the first year. Hostel fee is Rs. 1.58 lakhs per year. Admission to B.Des is through DSAT (Dayananda Sagar Scholarship Admission Test), KCET, COMEDK, or JEE Main scores. The first year of the programme introduces students to fundamentals across all specialisations before they choose their path in Year 2. Design studios at DSU are equipped with digital fabrication tools including 3D printers and laser cutters, a photography and video production studio, and a prototyping workshop. The university has industry training academies set up by Autodesk, Bosch, IBM, VMware, Nvidia, and Intel on campus, giving design students access to cutting-edge software and hardware tools. DSU also houses a DERBI Foundation for entrepreneurship support, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Placement at DSU is active with over 300 companies visiting campus annually. The highest package recorded is Rs. 35 LPA across all schools. Design graduates find placements in advertising agencies, product design consultancies, media companies, and fashion brands. DSU offers scholarships to students scoring 90% or above in 10+2 and 12th. NITI Aayog provided a Rs. 10 crore scholarship fund for the AIC-DSU Foundation on campus. DSU ranked 9th by IIRF 2024 and 17th by Outlook 2025 among private universities. Hostel with separate blocks for boys and girls is available on campus.
