About College of Horticulture Mysuru (UHS Bagalkot)
College of Horticulture Mysuru is under the University of Horticultural Sciences (UHS) Bagalkot, serving the Mysuru, Mandya, and Kodagu districts. It offers BSc Horticulture with training in fruit crops, vegetable production, floriculture, and post-harvest technology relevant to the Mysuru region.
The Mysuru area is one of Karnataka's most productive horticultural zones. Mango orchards in Ramanagara and Mandya, banana plantations across the Cauvery basin, tomato and onion cultivation in Mysuru Rural, and the flower growing belt supplying Bangalore's wholesale market all provide students with live industry exposure. Students participate in regular field visits to commercial horticultural farms, the APMC market in Mysuru, and the Mysuru Horticulture Station.
The college has departmental laboratories for soil science, plant pathology, entomology, and fruit science. Students participate in extension activities through village adoption programmes and connect with farmers through Krishi Vigyan Kendra activities. KCET is required for BSc Horticulture admission. Government sector careers through Karnataka PSC and the Department of Horticulture are the primary placement pathway. Private sector roles include seed companies, agri-input distributors, and food processing units operating in the Mysuru and Mandya belt. Hostel accommodation is available for students.
