College of Agriculture Raichur (UAS Raichur)

College of Agriculture Raichur is the flagship institution of the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) Raichur, established to serve the Hyderabad-Karnataka region. UAS Raichur was created specifically to address agricultural education needs in this historically underserved part of Karnataka, which includes Raichur, Koppal, Ballari, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, and Vijayapura districts. The college offers BSc Agriculture with a curriculum focused on semi-arid crop systems relevant to the region — cotton, tur dal, sunflower, paddy (under canal irrigation), groundnut, and sorghum. The UAS Raichur main campus has a 500-acre experimental farm with crop demonstration plots, a seed production unit, and a soil testing laboratory. The university runs 9 research stations across Raichur, Koppal, and Ballari districts where students participate in field research and extension activities. UAS Raichur has 13 All India Coordinated Research Projects funded by ICAR, covering dryland crop improvement, water management, and integrated pest management. KCET is required for BSc Agriculture admission. The ICAR quota provides additional seats for students qualifying in ICAR entrance exams. Government sector placements in the Karnataka Agriculture Department are the primary career pathway. Private sector roles include seed company field officers and agri-input sales in the Hyderabad-Karnataka market. Hostel with separate facilities for boys and girls is available on campus.
