About BMS College of Architecture
BMS College of Architecture, established in 1994, is part of the BMS Educational Trust — the same trust that operates BMS College of Engineering, one of Bengaluru's oldest and most respected engineering institutions. Located in Basavanagudi, south-central Bengaluru, the college offers the 5-year B.Arch programme affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and approved by the Council of Architecture (CoA), with NAAC A accreditation. The college has design studios, a materials library, a model-making workshop, a CAD and BIM software lab, and an architecture-specific reference library covering building typologies, structural systems, urban design theory, and construction technology. Architecture education is fundamentally studio-based — the quality of the studio environment, visiting faculty from practice, and the culture of design critique are more important than lecture-hall infrastructure. BMS Architecture has cultivated a design culture that includes participation in national and international architecture competitions, invited design reviews by practising architects, and site visits to ongoing construction and heritage projects across Bengaluru and Karnataka. Bengaluru's construction activity — commercial, residential, infrastructure, and institutional — provides a rich internship and employment environment for architecture graduates. Firms like RSP Architects, Hundredhands, Cadence Architects, Studio Lotus (Bengaluru offices), and government PSUs including CPWD and KPWD recruit from BMS Architecture. Hostel facilities are available for both male and female students. Admission is through NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) scores and 10+2 marks. For architecture aspirants in Bengaluru who want VTU affiliation, CoA approval, and NAAC A accreditation in a design-culture environment backed by the established BMS institutional brand, this college is among the stronger options in south Bengaluru.
