About Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology
Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, founded in 1979 on Shamanur Road in Davangere, is one of central Karnataka's oldest and most consistently recognised private engineering colleges. Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and holding NAAC A accreditation, BIET offers B.E. programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering, along with M.Tech programmes in selected branches. Total B.E. intake exceeds 600 seats across branches. The institution benefits from over four decades of continuous operation, which has produced a dense alumni network across Karnataka's IT and manufacturing sectors. Faculty quality is above average for a Davangere institution — a higher-than-usual proportion of PhD-qualified lecturers teach across departments, contributing to research output and examination guidance. The placement cell maintains active ties with Wipro, Cognizant, L&T Technology Services, Bosch, and regional manufacturing firms. IT recruitment drives typically run from November through March, while core engineering placements are concentrated in L&T Infrastructure, BHEL Trichy, and Davangere-based industries. The campus has separate hostels for male and female students, a library with digital journal access, and active IEEE and technical club chapters. Davangere's central location — roughly equidistant between Bengaluru and Hubli on NH48 — makes BIET practical for students from Hassan, Chitradurga, Shivamogga, and Tumkur districts. Living costs in Davangere are noticeably lower than Bengaluru, making total education cost significantly cheaper for families funding four years of engineering. For students from central Karnataka who want NAAC-accredited VTU engineering education without relocating to Bengaluru, BIET offers the strongest combination of academic standing, infrastructure, and cost in the region.
