VTU affiliated colleges follow a common syllabus and exam pattern set by VTU. Pros: recognised across Karnataka, standardised quality. Cons: rigid curriculum, delayed results sometimes. Autonomous colleges (like PES, Christ, Jain) set their own curriculum and exams. Pros: updated syllabus, industry-relevant courses, faster results, more flexibility. Cons: fees are usually higher, recognition may vary outside Karnataka. Deemed universities (like Manipal, JSS) are essentially autonomous with university status. For placements, top autonomous colleges often perform better due to updated curriculum.
