I have completed a diploma in engineering. Can I directly join 2nd year BTech? What is the process and which colleges offer lateral entry in Karnataka?

Lateral entry to BTech allows diploma holders to directly join 2nd year (3rd semester) of BTech. In Karnataka, admission is through DCET (Diploma Common Entrance Test) conducted by KEA. Eligibility: Completed diploma in engineering with minimum 45% marks. Most VTU affiliated colleges and many private colleges offer lateral entry seats. The process: Apply for DCET, write the exam, participate in KEA counselling. Popular branches available include CSE, ECE, ME, Civil and EEE. Fee is similar to regular BTech.
