Govt PU College Bagalkot

Government PU College Bagalkot is a state-run pre-university institution in Bagalkot, a district headquarters city in northern Karnataka. Operated under the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE), Government of Karnataka, the college offers the two-year Pre-University Course (I PUC and II PUC) that serves as the bridge between secondary school (SSLC) and degree-level education.

As a government institution, the college follows the standardised Karnataka PUC curriculum and examination pattern set by the DPUE. Students can choose from Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology combinations), Commerce (with Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics), and Arts/Humanities streams. The medium of instruction includes both Kannada and English, making education accessible to students from diverse linguistic backgrounds in the region.

Government PU colleges in Karnataka offer highly subsidised tuition fees, making quality pre-university education affordable for students from all economic backgrounds. Students from reserved categories benefit from additional fee concessions, scholarships, and government-sponsored schemes such as the Vidyasiri scholarship for SC/ST students and the Arivu scholarship for minority community students.

Bagalkot district, known for its historical significance including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pattadakal and the Chalukyan-era temples of Aihole and Badami, is home to several educational institutions. The Government PU College serves as one of the primary public educational options for students in the district seeking affordable, government-regulated pre-university education before proceeding to professional or degree programmes at universities across Karnataka.
