About Garden City University
Garden City University (GCU), located on a 52-acre campus in Bommanahalli, south Bengaluru, was established in 1992 as Garden City College and received university status from the Government of Karnataka in 2013. Recognised by UGC under Section 2(f), GCU offers programmes across humanities, sciences, commerce, management, engineering, and creative disciplines at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
The university operates through multiple schools: School of Commerce and Management, School of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Sciences, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, School of Design and Media, and the School of Education. Undergraduate programmes include BCom, BBA, BCA, BA, BSc, BTech, and specialised courses in Interior Design, Fashion Design, Film Studies, and Journalism. As a university, GCU designs its own curricula, conducts examinations, and awards degrees independently.
GCU features in the NIRF ranking band of 151-200 among Indian universities. The Bommanahalli campus houses a central library, digital classrooms, science and computing laboratories, a recording studio for media students, design workshops, a gymnasium, and residential blocks. The campus sits along Hosur Road near Electronic City, giving students access to internship and project opportunities in one of Bengaluru's largest technology employment zones.
The university's placement cell organises campus drives with recruiters from IT, banking, media, and retail sectors participating annually. Admissions are conducted through GCU's own entrance process, with applications available on the university website. Eligibility for most undergraduate programmes requires a II PUC or equivalent pass from a recognised board. GCU also offers diploma and certificate programmes in select disciplines for students seeking shorter professional qualification pathways alongside its standard three-year and four-year degree options.
