BMS Evening College

BMS Evening College, situated in Basavanagudi in south Bengaluru, provides undergraduate education through evening-shift classes designed for working professionals and students who cannot attend regular daytime programmes. Established in 1975 and affiliated to Bangalore University, the college operates classes from late afternoon onward, allowing employed individuals to pursue a university degree alongside their jobs.

The college is managed by the BMS Educational Trust, which also runs BMS College of Engineering (established 1946, one of Karnataka's oldest engineering institutions) and BMS College of Law. This institutional backing provides the evening college access to established administrative systems, library resources, and academic governance structures developed over several decades.

BCom is the primary programme, attracting students employed in Bengaluru's banking, retail, and small business sectors who seek a degree for career advancement or eligibility for higher studies. The BCA programme draws working professionals from IT support and data entry roles looking to formalise their computing knowledge with a recognised university qualification. Both programmes follow Bangalore University's standard syllabus and semester examination schedule.

Basavanagudi's central location near Lalbagh Botanical Garden, with connectivity via BMTC bus routes and the nearby Jayanagar metro corridor on the Green Line, makes the college accessible from multiple parts of the city after working hours. Admissions are conducted annually following II PUC results, with eligibility requiring a pass in any stream from a recognised pre-university board.
