About Bengaluru North University
Bengaluru North University is a public state university established on September 21, 2017 under the Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Act of 2015, created through the trifurcation of Bangalore University. The administrative office is at Tamaka in Kolar, operating from a temporary campus, with a permanent campus planned at Amaravathi village in Chikkaballapur district.
The university affiliates approximately 289 colleges across four districts: Bengaluru Rural (Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Hoskote), parts of Bengaluru Urban (KR Puram, Mahadevapura, CV Raman Nagar), Chikkaballapur (Gauribidanur, Bagepalli, Sidlaghatta, Chintamani), and Kolar (Srinivaspur, Mulbagal, KGF, Bangarpet, Malur).
Twenty programmes span 11 streams. UG: BA, BBA, B.Sc, BCA, B.Com, B.P.Ed, BSW, BVA, BASLP, BHM. PG: MBA, MCA, M.Sc, MA, M.Com, M.Ed, MSW, M.Lib. PhD available in English, History, Physics, Journalism, Zoology, Mathematics, Political Science, Botany, and Chemistry. PG admissions accept GATE, Karnataka PGCET, KMAT, CMAT, and CAT.
Bengaluru North University holds UGC recognition and NAAC C Grade. The jurisdiction covers the rapidly urbanising Bengaluru periphery (Devanahalli airport corridor, Mahadevapura tech hub) and rural-industrial Kolar and Chikkaballapur. The inaugural VC was T.D. Kemparaju (2017), with current VC B.K. Ravi. The university serves a student population across semi-urban and rural Karnataka.
